IF YOU MAKE WINE FROM OREGON GRAPES, YOU CAN TAKE THE PLEDGE!
Thank you for considering taking the Oregon Wine Longevity Project pledge. Individuals the world over all rely heavily upon charitable organizations for the myriad of public benefits & resources they provide, & it is the intention of the Project that lovers of wine, regardless of where they hail from, will likewise over time, come to rely upon the Project’s open-source database.

Although we hope you are already aware, the Oregon Wine Longevity Project exists:
  • To identify & determine how each variable may impact the longevity of Oregon wine;
  • To develop an open-sourced database of all such variables defined through quantitative & qualitative lenses over the next fifty years; & in sharing such a database;
    • Educate the public about the potential of aged wines & help consumers determine when the wines they have purchased will be at their prime;
    • Give winemakers across the world the information necessary to allow them to alter their winemaking style to ensure their wines last as long as they desire.

The Project’s ability to even begin creating such a database is virtually impossible without the partnership & support of winery partners like yourself.

The pledge letter below will explain precisely what taking the pledge entails, as well as allow you to specify the form & extent of your pledge. At its simplest, taking the pledge would mean that you designate at least one wine release (current or forthcoming) as a Longevity Wine & donate a single case to our 501(c)3 organization to enable the Project to test your wine along with countless others quinquennially over the next fifty years.

That you are even contemplating taking the pledge & supporting the Project is not something I take lightly & I look forward to working alongside you to determine the true longevity of Oregon wines… And have a great time doing it!

If you're ready to take the pledge, either download the pledge letter below and email it to pledge@oregonwinelongevityproject.com or else fill out the contact form below to make a pledge and a member of the Project will reach out with a copy of the pledge letter for you to complete!

FAQ:

Question #1: What is the pledge?

Answer: A long-term commitment to support the Oregon Wine Longevity Project's mission made with but one action through the designation at least one wine release (current or forthcoming) as a Longevity Wine & donation of a single case in order to enable the Project to test your wine along with countless others quinquennially over the next fifty years.

Question #2: Why is taking the pledge so important?

Answer: The Project’s ability to even begin creating such a database is virtually impossible without the partnership & support of winery partners like yourself. Quite frankly, without a substantial quantity of Longevity Wines to have our Advisory Taste Panel test at every Quinquennial Longevity Celebration, we cannot begin to identify those variables that impact the longevity of Oregon wines... A database without any variables would not be much of a database would it?

Question #3: How many wineries have taken the pledge so far?

Answer: The Project is in its very early stages - particularly when you consider that it won't be complete for at least fifty years (that's the year 2070 if you're counting) - and as such we value each and every one of our winery partners. Right now, less than ten have taken the pledge, but with well over 500 wineries in the state, and even more in California and Washington who make wine from Oregon grapes, the sky is the limit! As we partner with more and more wineries, be sure to check out our homepage which we will continually update with their names and logos!

Question #4: Does our winery have to agree to serve as a potential event venue?

Answer: Not at all! With many of the Board's and Advisory Taste Panel having worked within wineries ourselves, we understand how much work it can be to pull off a successful event. While we certainly welcome any winery that is willing to help us bring our event series - Sip & Learns, Annual Longevity Celebrations, and Quinquennial Longevity Celebrations - to life through sharing their gorgeous estates whether that be facilities, tasting room, vineyard, or other holdings, we recognize that not all winery partners will be able to. Additionally, even if particular winery partners want to serve as potential event venues, we also realize that logistically and strategically a winery's own events, private functions, and operations should take precedence and thus their ability to do so may not always align with the Project's vision and plan.

Question #5: How can we take the pledge?

Answer: Either download the pledge letter below and email it to pledge@oregonwinelongevityproject.org or else fill out the contact form below to make a pledge and a member of the Project will reach out with a copy of the pledge letter for you to complete!

Question #6: What if I have additional questions?

Answer: Please feel free to consider me, Jason Raymond Werner, your direct contact within the Project and email me directly at Jason@OregonWineLongevityProject.org or call me directly at 503.395.5131.
